KS1 Behaviour Mentor

Are you a confident and motivated Behaviour Mentor looking to take the next step in your career? Ortus Recruitment is working closely with a welcoming primary school in Wandsworth that is seeking a full-time KS1 Behaviour Mentor to join their team as soon as possible. This role is ideal for graduates, Teaching Assistants, or Learning Support Assistants who have a passion for supporting children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.

You’ll be joining a supportive staff team that values positive relationships, consistency, and a nurturing approach to behaviour management. Your role will be key in helping pupils develop emotional resilience, access learning, and engage positively throughout the school day.

What the School Is Looking For
  • Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, ideally in a primary school
  • Confidence in de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
  • Background working with SEMH or supporting pupils in KS1/KS2
  • Immediate availability for an ongoing, full-time position
  • Ability to adapt to different year groups when required
  • Someone reliable, patient, and committed to making a difference
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils exhibiting challenging behaviour
  • Help pupils engage with learning in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science
  • Support or lead targeted interventions linked to EHCP outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to promote positive behaviour
  • Implement behaviour plans and contribute to a safe, structured learning environment
  • Support pupils both inside the classroom and around the school

Experience as a Behaviour Mentor is beneficial, and training such as team Teach is a plus, though not essential.
