Job Description

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive Personal Assistant (PA) to support a 16-year-old young person with autism. This role requires constant supervision and a calm, positive approach at all times.

Contract Type

Part Time, Permanent

Roles and Responsibilities
Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide constant supervision to ensure safety at all times
  • Support with daily activities and routines
  • Take him out to activities and help him enjoy his interests
  • Encourage happiness, confidence, and engagement
  • Supervise personal care tasks including:
    • Toileting
    • Eating
    • Washing hands
  • Monitor behaviour and wellbeing throughout the day
  • Managing meltdowns:
    • Remain calm and use positive language
    • Ensure he is kept safe
    • Do not say anything that may escape the situation
    • Allow time for him to settle in a safe, quiet area
    • Gently divert attention when appropriate
    • Be aware of triggers and avoid them where possible
