A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a committed and enthusiastic KS2 Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team supporting lower-ability pupils through targeted interventions and small group work. This full-time role, starting in September, offers the chance to make a real difference by helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

This position is perfect for a passionate Teaching Assistant who thrives on supporting pupils who require extra help to access the curriculum. Working closely with teachers and the SENCO, the successful candidate will deliver tailored interventions designed to boost confidence, develop key skills, and improve academic outcomes for pupils in Key Stage 2.

The role involves working with small groups and individual pupils, focusing on core areas such as literacy and numeracy, to reinforce learning and build essential skills. The Teaching Assistant will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels supported and valued.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver focused intervention sessions and small group teaching to lower-ability KS2 pupils
  • Support pupils in developing literacy, numeracy, and other foundational skills through engaging activities
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers and SENCO to identify pupil's needs and plan effective support strategies
  • Monitor pupils' progress and provide feedback to teaching staff to inform future planning
  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes pupil engagement and confidence
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of intervention sessions and pupil progress
  • Contribute to a whole-school approach to raising attainment and supporting inclusive education
Candidate Profile / Qualifications
  • Experience working with primary-aged children, preferably in a teaching assistant or similar role
  • Knowledge of effective intervention strategies for lower-ability learners and SEN support is highly desirable
  • Patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic with a genuine commitment to helping pupils succeed
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, pupils, and parents
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to the varied needs of pupils and the school environment
