Key Accounts Manager: Housebuilders - UK Manufacturer of Building Products

Location: UK – National (specifically Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire).
Salary: £45,000+ plus Car Allowance / Company Car / Bonus / Pension / Healthcare.

Well‑established UK manufacturer supplying high‑quality bricks and building materials requires a commercially‑driven Key Accounts Manager – Housebuilders. You'll optimise sales, profit and share of customer spend by promoting the Company's products and services to the assigned account portfolio, and developing strategic relationships at national housebuilder HQ and procurement levels.

What you will do
  • Take ownership of a defined national account portfolio of housebuilder customers and act as the main account contact.
  • Manage and grow existing key accounts while identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Create and deliver account development plans aligned with customer expectations and company objectives.
  • Prepare monthly performance updates for wider management and the external sales team.
  • Use CRM (Salesforce) for journey planning, forecasting, documenting visits, tracking pipeline and managing account activity.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships at all levels – from ground/site management to procurement and commercial teams.
  • Establish regular contact and review meetings to monitor performance, promote products and capture future strategic plans.
  • Work collaboratively with internal commercial teams to drive improvements in performance, communication and customer service.
  • Attend exhibitions, conferences, presentations and other customer events – including overnight stays.
  • Maintain administrative responsibilities such as diary management, Salesforce records, account trading agreements and terms.
  • Monitor and suggest improvements to current procedures and systems.
  • Achieve individual volume, margin and ASP targets for your account portfolio.
  • Understand and react to developments in commercial, technical and policy matters that could impact accounts.
What we are looking for

We're looking for a motivated, commercially-minded sales professional with strong key account management experience and a proven ability to grow strategic customer relationships and develop business. Experience working with national housebuilders at a procurement level, and Brick & Block experience is highly preferred.

Essential
  • ✔ Key Account Management within the building industry or related B2B construction market.
  • ✔ Experience selling directly into national housebuilders or similar building/industrial clients at commercial/head office level.
  • ✔ Strong CRM discipline – ideally with Salesforce for planning and pipeline management.
  • ✔ Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • ✔ Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
  • ✔ Analytical mindset with ability to generate and understand forecasts.
  • ✔ Motivated, resilient and target-driven with strong team ethics.
  • ✔ Happy with regular travel and overnights as part of a national role.
