Overview

General Dynamics Mission Systems engineers a diverse portfolio of high technology solutions, products and services. In the UK, we lead in avionics and communication systems. We value trust, honesty, alignment and transparency. General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea provides avionic mission computing systems for military fast jets, helicopters and UAVs, and is developing next generation Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet needs of platforms in development by multiple aircraft manufacturers. These mission computing systems integrate aircraft, sensor, stores management, information and control systems to support aircrew in demanding operations.

Responsibilities

We are hiring a Junior PCB Design Engineer who wishes to develop knowledge and skills and apply them to mission management and control systems in the avionics, maritime or naval domain. Working as part of a small but integrated design team, you will be involved in all stages of product development with a focus on PCB design. You will work alongside an experienced PCB designer who will help develop your capability in this specialist area.

Qualifications
  • Degree-level education in Electronics or related subject.
  • Some experience of creating PCB layouts using standard tools.
  • Desire to develop expertise as a PCB designer.
  • Good understanding of the hardware design lifecycle.
  • Understanding of manufacturability and testability constraints.

Professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng, IET or equivalent) is desirable, but not essential. We actively support employees in attaining professional registration status.

Role Details

These full-time roles are based in Hastings and offer an attractive starting salary of up to £32k along with our flexible benefits package. The role can be performed with time spent working from home and in the office (hybrid - typically 3 days in the office) or fully in our offices.
