Job description

As part of our clients housekeeping team, you will play an essential role in ensuring accommodation and site looks presentable, so that guests feel a genuine welcome and an optimistic attitude from all team members. You will support the team to create great memories for all guests. As a junior housekeeping supervisor, you will assist the entire housekeeping department, taking responsibility to ensure the very highest level of service is consistently delivered. You will have responsibility for presenting the rooms and site to a great standard, which will contribute to our clients' guests having a great experience.

This role is based in Hoddesdon and the annual salary for this role is £25,471, working 8‑hour shifts with a 30‑minute unpaid break. Rotas are issued 2‑3 weeks in advance and will typically include working every other weekend. Standard shift times are 09:00‑17:00, with occasional variations of 08:00‑16:00 or 10:00‑18:00, depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Encourage efficient and effective inter‑departmental communication to promote a climate of teamwork and motivation.
  • Communicate a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals.
  • Liaise and communicate with the Housekeeping Supervisor, Rooms Division Manager, and/or Duty Manager daily.
  • Plan, prioritise, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of the housekeeping team.
  • In the absence of the supervisor, allocate work to staff daily.
  • Clean & maintain guest rooms to a high standard. Specific duties include, however are not limited to, making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, changing towels, removing all rubbish, and deep cleaning.
  • Ensure public areas are clean and tidy.
  • Ensure all staff carry out their daily tasks to the required standards.
  • Ensure the cleaning of in‑house laundry, towels, bedding, and curtains.
  • When bedrooms are not in use, ensure that heating is turned off or down to low levels.
  • Oversee the induction process for each new employee, ensuring they receive the correct training via buddy up.
  • Develop staff as necessary through on‑the‑job training.
  • Ensure that staff work safely, protecting guests, colleagues, and themselves.
  • Ensure efficient and proper use of materials and equipment with reference to Health & Safety, and COSHH legislation.
  • Report any faults/defects to the maintenance department and liaise with the maintenance supervisor on safety checks on electrical equipment.
  • To include at least 1 year of housekeeping experience.

Experience and knowledge
  • At least 1–2 years in hospitality housekeeping or similar.
Skills, personal attributes and behaviours
  • Confident, self‑motivated and able to work on own initiative.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised with good planning, prioritising and time management skills.
  • Ability to accurately prioritise work to minimise disruption to the centre.
  • Demonstrates a positive customer‑focused approach to guests' needs and resolves problems quickly.
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving problems with the ability to determine when to escalat**e problems to the Maintenance Manager and when to take ownership and resolve them personally.
  • A good team player.
