A prominent NHS Trust seeks a Junior Clinical Fellow in Stroke to join a dedicated team. You will be responsible for patient investigations and treatment, work alongside experienced colleagues, and contribute to innovative stroke management practices. The successful applicant will join a team of FY1s, FY2s, other Junior Clinical Fellow doctors, Senior clinical Fellow doctors, 8 consultants as well as specialist stroke nurses and a stroke co-ordinator.
The stroke unit (ward 41) has 12 hyperacute and 30 acute/rehabilitation beds. The stroke service lies within the Department of Neurosciences. We admit around 1400 stroke patients a year a dedicated 24/7 thrombolysis service has been running since 2008 and covers a population of about 1 million and we currently treat around 150 patients every year with IV tPA a thrombectomy service is being developed.
A dedicated 'one stop' acute TIA clinic runs 7 days a week supported by a daily, on site carotid. Ultrasound service and MRI scanning. Over 95% of high-risk patients are seen within 24 hours of referral.
