Job (Waterton): Actors for Repertory Theatre – Waterton Teenie Weenie Theatre Company

Waterton Teenie Weenie Theatre Company is a professional Theatre for Young Audiences Company. We are nestled in the town site of Waterton in the Waterton Lakes National Park. For the past year of development, we had an understanding with the Cardston Carriage House Theatre to hire their cast to provide them with day time jobs in July and August, supplementing their evening performances. We have now reached a mutual realization that the rehearsal demands would not be conducive and so we are quickly searching for actors to create our own cast. We have obtained our four women and are now just finalizing our men.

We are in need of two more MEN.

We are a repertory company. This year our three shows are the musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s, “Emperor’s New Clothes”; an original black light puppet theatre show, “Bloom” showcasing the life and times of a small seed blossoming on the hillside during the Waterton Wildflower festival; and an original old fashioned Melodrama, “Historical Hysterics” set in the 1920’s on the day the Prince of Wales Hotel opens their doors to the public.

We also do two hour single day camps. These are lead by our actors and engage the children in the art of story telling using costumes, props and music. Each day camp is specifically designed to mirror the genre of that day’s performances.

Thus you will need to be proficient in singing, acting, puppetry – or willing to learn!!, and working with children. Children’s theatre is an extremely honest form of acting and within that exploration, can be very rewarding.

We rehearse in May. Each show receives a week’s attention and then we open the show on the Saturday of that week, beginning May 17. Saturday performances continue throughout June.

Also in June we perform in the mornings for school field trip groups which have been steadily booking, and daily during the Waterton Wildflower festival occurring the last week of June.

In July and August we have an 11:00 am performance followed by a 2 hour single day camp, then another performance at 3:00, Monday through Saturdays. Our shows run 45 minutes in length.
You would be hired under contract for $3000.00+ (depending on how well we do – there may be more, but I can guarantee $3000.00).

An employer in Waterton would very much like to hire our actors part time to work at Starbucks, and also the Bay Shore Inn/Glacier Suites in the restaurant, gift shop, and lounge areas. He pays $12.00 plus tips and you can work as little or as much as you want. You would be available to work after 1:00 p.m. in May and June and after 5:00 pm in July and August. If you are interested in joining us, and working a second job, I will get his contact info to you asap.

We are almost complete, and accommodations will be found for you. You can expect to pay approx. $200.00 – $300.00 a month.

Please go on our website to see what we’re all about and to contact. www.watertontwt.com .
Deadline to apply: Sunday May 4!
