Overview

We are working with a well-established Engineering and hire business seeking an IT Support Technician to strengthen their in-house IT team.

The IT Support Technician will provide first and second line support, helping staff with everything from day-to-day IT queries to the deployment of new systems.

The role covers troubleshooting hardware and software, managing mobile devices, maintaining network connections, and supporting business-critical applications.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide helpdesk support across software, hardware, mobile devices, and cybersecurity
  • Troubleshoot local and wide area networks, Wi-Fi access, and branch connections, escalating when needed
  • Set up, install, and configure IT equipment including laptops, desktops, phones, and tablets
  • Deploy and maintain Microsoft 365 applications and Windows-based systems
  • Ensure accurate records of IT assets, stock levels, and user assignments are kept up to date
  • Support and document IT processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
  • Assist with IT projects and new system rollouts
  • Provide user training and ensure all work aligns with H&S and cybersecurity best practice
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in IT support, ideally in a fast-paced business environment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365
  • Understanding of networks, Wi-Fi, and general cybersecurity practices
  • Confident problem-solver with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical colleagues
  • A Level (or equivalent) in ICT - a degree in IT is desirable but not essential
  • ITIL foundation qualification (or working knowledge)
  • Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel to branch sites
