A leading engineering business in Sunderland is seeking an IT Support Engineer to provide on-site IT support across various technical aspects. The role entails managing workstations, servers, and resolving user issues related to software, hardware, and networks. Job description

Role: IT Support Engineer

Salary: 27,000 - 30,000 DOE

Location: Sunderland

GEM Partnership is delighted to partner with a leading engineering business in their appointment of an On‑Site IT Support Engineer, who will provide IT support across all aspects of their business.

The Role
  • Responsible for providing on‑site desktop support for technical infrastructure for end users
  • Advising and assisting users in solving problems related to software, hardware, networks and peripherals
  • Install, upgrade, and maintain workstations, servers, networks, and peripheral equipment
  • Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and profiles
  • Monitor systems, perform regular backups, conduct security checks (firewalls), and manage IT inventory
  • Resolve and elevate IT incidents and change requests
  • Involvement in IT‑related projects alongside typical day‑to‑day Support duties
The Person
  • Previous similar experience in an IT Support role
  • Ideally with a recognised IT‑related qualification and an appetite to develop further
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Office 365 etc.) and operating system
  • Good understanding of PC hardware
  • Proven experience of server environments and Active Directory
  • Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication skills, patience, and customer service skills
