HD Tech are partnering with a well‑established, globally connected organisation seeking an IT Senior Lead to take ownership of their on‑site IT environment. This is a hands‑on, standalone role, responsible for day‑to‑day management of IT systems and infrastructure, as well as providing help desk support to users on‑site and remotely.

You will work closely with a global IT function, using shared systems and resources, while being the key IT contact for the UK operation.

The Role

This position will suit someone who enjoys resolving a broad range of technical issues, from routine support queries through to more complex incidents and infrastructure‑related work. You will manage the local IT environment, ensure systems remain reliable and secure, and represent the UK office within the wider global IT team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operation of network infrastructure, servers, VOIP systems and mobile communications.
  • Provide first‑line and escalated IT support to on‑site and remote users (including other time zones), ensuring prompt issue resolution.
  • Maintain system reliability through routine checks, updates and proactive monitoring.
  • Align IT infrastructure with current and future business goals and requirements.
  • Manage the IT budget effectively, including procurement planning and vendor engagement.
  • Develop and implement risk assessments, disaster recovery and backup strategies.
  • Source, install and configure new or replacement hardware and software.
  • Ensure all IT practices comply with relevant laws, codes and regulatory standards.
  • Perform ongoing system testing, troubleshooting and optimisation.
  • Lead the implementation of network, data and system security measures.
  • Act as the UK IT representative within the global IT team.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proficient in Windows 10 / 11 and Office 365 installation, configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience managing Windows Server 2016 / 2019, Exchange Online, Active Directory and Group Policy. Solid knowledge of VMware vSphere ESXi and vCenter.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining firewalls, switches, WLANs, WANs, DHCP, DNS, TCP / IP and client SSL VPNs in SME environments.
  • Daily management of centrally managed antivirus solutions and SaaS‑based email security platforms.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable supporting both internal and remote users and working with minimal supervision.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Familiarity with HPE SAN / NAS environments.
  • Experience using Veeam Backup & Recovery for onsite and offsite strategies.
  • Hands‑on experience with VOIP systems, ideally Avaya IP Office on‑premise platforms.
Benefits
  • Enhanced sick pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced pension
  • Free onsite parking
  • Employee discount
