Description

This role is a unique hybrid role that blends strategic IT oversight with hands‑on program management. You will work closely with the GM of IT to shape and execute our IT vision, ensuring that technology initiatives are not only strategically aligned but also delivered effectively, on time, and within budget. This role is crucial for transforming our strategic objectives into tangible, high‑impact IT solutions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic IT Leadership
  • Collaborate with the GM of IT to develop, refine, and articulate the overall IT strategy, architecture, and roadmap that supports business objectives.
  • Contribute to IT budgeting, resource allocation, and vendor management, seeking opportunities for optimization and efficiency.
  • Act as a key liaison between IT and other business departments, translating business needs into technical requirements and IT initiatives.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends, recommending solutions that can drive innovation and competitive advantage.
  • Deputize for the GM of IT in meetings and decision‑making when required.
  • Ensure alignment with global and headquarters policies, procedures and initiatives.
Program Management and Delivery
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple large‑scale, complex IT programs and projects.
  • Define program scope, goals, deliverables, and resource requirements in collaboration with stakeholders and project teams.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive program plans, including timelines, budgets, risk registers, and communication strategies.
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of multiple project managers and cross‑functional teams, ensuring effective collaboration and accountability.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues, implementing contingency plans as needed.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for program success, providing regular updates to the GM of IT and executive stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all delivered solutions meet quality, business requirements, and strategic objectives.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Mentor and guide project managers and IT team members, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote best practices in project and program management methodologies
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the IT department and across the organization.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Degree educated or above
  • Significant experience in a leadership role within a multi‑commodity trading firm or a closely related financial services environment.
  • Deep understanding and experience with commodity trading systems (ETRM/CTRM)
  • Strong knowledge of commodity markets, trading lifecycle, market data, risk management, and regulatory requirements specific to commodity trading.
  • Proven experience in managing complex IT projects from inception to successful delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and manage high‑performing technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a strategic mindset
  • Significant experience of developing and growing successful IT teams in a trading environment
