IT Operations Engineer

Belfast, hybrid
Working pattern: Monday - Friday, 7am - 4pm

Temporary, 12 months, circa 45k+ pa / 200+ dr

VANRATH is delighted to be working with a global tech client to recruit an IT Operations Engineer for a contract role based in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity for an IT Operations Engineer to work within a fast-paced, enterprise technology environment supporting critical customer‑facing systems.

The Role

As an IT Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring and supporting multiple environments across core business platforms, ensuring stability, availability, and rapid incident resolution. This IT Operations Engineer role suits someone who thrives under pressure and enjoys hands‑on operational support.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor all customer‑facing environments including Production, Certification, New Release, and Disaster Recovery
• Remediate system and application issues as they arise
• Escalate incidents promptly in line with defined operational guidelines
• Accurately report incidents and updates to management
• Learn and execute triage, escalation, and recovery procedures by application or business area
• Use monitoring systems and internal tools to maintain system stability and ensure incidents are acknowledged within SLA
• Build knowledge of application flows and functionality
• Document timelines for incident reporting and post‑incident reviews

About You

This position would suit an IT Operations Engineer with:

• Basic, proven Linux experience
• Strong ability to multitask and prioritise in high‑pressure or critical scenarios
• Clear and professional communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders (local and global, in‑person or virtual)
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP (desirable, not essential)
