IT Manager

£50,000 - £60,000 plus bonus

The Organisation

Nigel Wright are delighted to be partnering with the Institute of Directors in the search for an IT Manager.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) is a thriving membership community for Directors in the UK and beyond, where you can connect with other leaders, develop your skills and be heard. The IT Manager will take care of all day-to-day operational IT duties such as managing key IT vendor relationships, coordinate internal tasks and small projects, as well as ensuring that day-to-date IT services are delivered both within the appropriate timeframes and quality standards required by the organisation.

You will employed on a remote contract with occasional travel to their HQ in London. Unfortunately the IoD is unable to sponsor visas so candidates must have a permanent right to work in the UK.

The Role

In this newly created role, you will act as the right-hand to the Head of IT, taking ownership of day-to-day IT operations. Specifically you will :

  • Manage internal coordination and external suppliers, overseeing service delivery and supplier performance.
  • Act as first point of contact for IT-related queries across the organisation.
  • Coordinate internal IT tasks and ensure smooth operations.
  • Support IT transformation projects and liaise with business units to understand needs.
  • Maintain good security practice awareness in day-to-day operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT processes and service delivery and proactively work with other stakeholders to deliver
Person Specification

Having experience of managing an IT operation, you will have proven ability in managing third party providers as key members of service delivery. With broad technical IT knowledge with the ability to discuss technical solutions, you will possess :

  • Experience working in an ITIL framework and using service management principles.
  • Strong organisational and supplier management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of networks and cloud computing principles
  • Solid literacy in data and cyber security practices
  • Good financial acumen – being able to stay on track with areas of spend responsibility
  • Ability to act as an IT business partner—understanding needs and proposing solutions.
  • Experience with modern task and project management tools to organise and collaborate on work
  • Solid experience of IT Governance and how it fits within wider organisational governance

Confidence in using and advising on AI technologies will be beneficial. Most importantly you will be proactive, relationship-driven, self-motivated and be visible in a remote-first environment.
