Interim Team Leader – Waste & Recycling

Full‑Time, Temporary

37 Hours per Week

3 Months Contract

£170.00 PAYE / £218.025 Umbrella Daily Rate

Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Uttlesford District Council in recruiting an Interim Waste & Recycling Team Leader on a full‑time, temporary basis with a view to extend.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to work on‑site 4 days per week.

Role Purpose

To lead and co‑ordinate the delivery of an efficient waste and recycling services operating across the district.

To lead staff to deliver the services in an a professional, effective, safe manner and support the enhance the local environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • To lead, supervise, organise, support and advise allocated staff to deliver an effective service.
  • To ensure health and safety requirements are always complied with including provision and use of protective clothing and equipment.
  • To work with service coordinators to programme planned work and ad hoc requests, apportion staff, to achieve best productivity and positive outcomes.
  • To carry out site visits and determine staffing requirements and costings for recharged works where necessary.
  • Work with the transport and workshop manager to ensure that all drivers are correctly licensed and assessed.
  • To complete administrative records and maintain files where required.
  • To work as part of the wider Environmental Services team to provide support and cover during annual leave and sick leave etc.

Qualifications/Training/Experience
  • Valid UK driving license (Category B+E entitlement)
  • Significant experience managing waste management operations
  • Experience of leading or supervising others.
  • Experience in the use of IT (Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel) as a minimum.
  • IOSH trained or willing to train.
