Overview

Interim-Housing Delivery & Intervention Manager. Contract-Initial 3 Month Interim Contract. Day rate: £600 to £700 per day. Reports to: Head of Delivery & Assurance. Location: Newham Council (hybrid; frequent site presence).

Responsibilities
  • Recovery coordination – Lead short‑term taskforces to accelerate: fire safety remedial actions from FRAs (site scheduling, contractor coordination, access strategies); electrical safety EICR catch‑up programmes (including voids and hard‑to‑access homes); smoke/CO alarms compliance verification and rectification runs; repairs backlog clearance with focus on damp & mould cases and statutory health/safety priorities.
  • Operational controls – Re‑baseline work plans, RAID and dependencies; implement stage‑gate checklists; agree milestone acceptance criteria with Programme Managers.
  • On‑site problem‑solving – Conduct site walk‑throughs; remove blockers (access, materials, permits); escalate supply‑chain issues; coordinate decants as needed with Housing Options.
  • Performance tracking – Run daily/weekly performance huddles; maintain live trackers and recovery dashboards with the Performance & Governance Analyst.
Essential skills, knowledge & experience
  • Demonstrable experience managing operational recovery in housing/building safety/repairs; confident in contractor management and access strategies.
  • Strong project controls (plans, RAID, change control); crisp, pragmatic communication.
Desirable
  • PRINCE2/MSP practitioner‑level awareness for structured recovery; familiarity with damp & mould good practice and HOS expectations.
Measures of success
  • Sustained reduction in overdue actions and backlogs; recovery milestones delivered on time; improved resident outcomes (e.g., damp & mould resolution).
