Interim Finance Lead - Bid Development & Financial Modelling

A growing and mission-driven Charity is seeking an Interim Finance Lead to support a major strategic bid, on either part or full time basis. The organisation is preparing to tender for a place on a government framework that, if successful, could significantly scale up their operations.

To put forward the strongest possible bid, they require a finance professional on a four month contract who can provide robust financial modelling, strategic insight, and clear, evidence-based pricing in collaboration with the operational teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on cost modelling and scenario modelling to inform bid decisions and pricing options.
  • Work closely with operational leads to build realistic, scalable pricing models that reflect service delivery requirements.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and review external benchmarks to assess the organisation’s market positioning.
  • Produce clear financial narratives to accompany the bid, explaining assumptions, risks, and sensitivities.
  • Deliver forecasting to help leadership understand the medium-term financial impact of different bid outcomes.
  • Support the organisation’s move towards partial VAT exemption, helping establish compliant processes and advising on implications for the bid.
  • Provide strategic financial insight to senior stakeholders, enabling them to make informed decisions under tight deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience supporting bids or tenders from a financial perspective (charity sector experience highly desirable).
  • Strong costing, scenario‑modelling, and pricing skills.
  • The ability to partner effectively with operational leads.
  • A clear and confident communication style.
  • A proactive, analytical mindset with the ability to work independently and at pace.

Candidates who bring strong charity finance experience and advanced modelling capability — even without direct bid experience — are strongly encouraged to apply
