Job description

Tameside Council has an exciting opportunity within Adult Commissioning and Homes for All for someone who is keen to make a difference in the delivery of community equipment and who has experience in the commissioning of contracts.

Housing Adaptations is an established team and has recently expanded to improve delivery of the service. We are in the process of procuring a new CES contract in collaboration with neighbouring authorities with a view to it commencing in October 20206, so this is a good time to join the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take a leading role working closely with Managers across health and social care, service user groups, suppliers and practitioners within Tameside MBC and Tameside ICB.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) on a day‑to‑day basis, ensuring interfaces with all partners and clinicians are robust to maintain smooth delivery.
  • Provide specialist advice on a vast range of Community Equipment, keeping abreast of equipment development and best value in this field.
  • Effectively manage and prioritise your own workload, working in a flexible and sensitive manner within a demanding service.
  • Supervise the quality monitoring officer who supports you in your role.
  • Manage the CES contract, applying experience and knowledge in contractual matters.
  • Communicate information with colleagues and varying levels of management within the Council and within the supplier hierarchy.
Qualifications
  • Good standard of education; a professional clinical qualification is not essential but experience and knowledge of Community Equipment Service processes within a local authority is expected.
  • Experience and knowledge of commissioning contracts and community equipment service processes.
  • Experience in contractual matters related to CES.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage workload and work flexibly and sensitively.
  • Dynamic and driven personality, eager to deliver CES to the best of your ability.
