Job description
Overview

In response to significant demand, we are looking for a woodwind instrumental specialist teacher to join our team to teach group, individual, whole class and ensemble lessons for up to 12 hours per week in North, East and Central Warwickshire. Please note 3h of whole class and 3h of instrumental teaching (6h total) is maternity cover. Teaching will take place during the school day with some teaching expected at Area Music Centre's up to 6:30 p.m.

We welcome new applications to the instrumental teaching profession and can provide support and training to enable ongoing individual professional development, especially in group and whole class teaching practice.

Responsibilities

• Teach group, individual, whole class and ensemble lessons up to 12 hours per week. • Design and deliver lesson plans that meet the curriculum and individual student needs. • Use technology effectively in lessons. • Work independently and as part of a team dedicated to the musical development and safeguarding of children and young people.

Qualifications & Skills

Your commitment and enthusiasm as a musician and teacher is essential. You should be organised, skilled and confident in the use of technology, receptive to new ideas, ambitious for your own professional development, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

The Fluency Duty requires accurate spoken English to the public. Successful applicants are subject to pre‑engagement checks including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Salary and Hours

Instrumental salary range: £19,970 F.T.E (£22.01 per hour) to £29,825 F.T.E (£32.87 per hour) – 33 weeks delivery.

Whole Class salary range: £40,739 F.T.E (£37.99 per hour) – 36 weeks delivery plus 3 weeks planning.

Pay is annualised and paid monthly throughout the year. Teaching hours may increase or decrease in response to demand. Travel expenses are covered and teaching roles benefit from membership of the Teacher Pension Scheme.

Warwickshire Music is the principal provider of music education in Warwickshire and the lead organisation of the Warwickshire Music Hub. We teach over 10,000 pupils each week and provide instrumental, vocal and class music teaching in schools, community music centres and a wide range of ensembles and music groups each week for children & young people across Warwickshire.
