Overview

Upperton Pharma Solutions is a Nottingham-based CDMO that specialises in the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical products, providing a complete service from early-stage feasibility to GMP clinical manufacture. Formulations cover a range of delivery routes, typically including oral (tablets & capsules), nasal, inhaled and sterile products. The Role

Upperton utilises many instruments within its R&D, Analytical and Manufacturing departments which are critical to ensuring that the pharmaceutical products Upperton develops and manufactures are of high quality and meet all required product specifications.

The Instrument & Equipment Technician is responsible for the asset management of Upperton Pharma Solutions instrumentation as well as performing instrument calibration and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures and pharmaceutical industry requirements.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled calibration of instruments and equipment across the site.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records in line with GMP and ISO standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve calibration and instrumentation accuracy issues to minimise downtime.
  • Plan and execute Preventive Planned Maintenance (PPM) schedules for instruments and equipment.
  • Upkeep of Uppertons Asset Management database ensuring all calibration dates and calibration reference numbers remain correct.
  • Coordinate with R&D, Analytical and Manufacturing departments to ensure optimal scheduling of calibration activities to minimise operational disruption.
  • Manage relationships with external service providers for calibration, maintenance, and repair.
  • Schedule and oversee external service providers, ensuring work is completed to required standards.
  • Review and approve externally generated calibration certificates and service reports.
  • Maintain and update equipment logs and service records.
  • Champion Health & Safety, ensuring site calibration and maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner and that both equipment and the facility are maintained with safety and compliance at the forefront.
Essential Skills And Experience
  • Experience working within a Calibration or Maintenance Engineering role.
  • Level 3 apprenticeship in Equipment Maintenance, Instrument and Controls or Inspection and Testing.
  • Experience of working within a regulated environment.
  • Experience working within the Pharmaceutical industry, ideally within a CDMO or CMO.
  • Demonstratable experience performing calibration testing activities.
  • Experience with writing, actioning and actioning Change Controls, Deviations and Corrective And Preventative Actions (CAPAs).
