Job description

We are looking for an Associate or Senior Associate solicitor with at least 5 years PQE in corporate and personal insolvency to work as part of the cross‑office Business Support and Insolvency Team. Based from our Cardiff or Southampton office the successful candidate will work closely with the Partner who heads up the team. While the successful candidate would have immediate supervisory responsibilities with the local team, they would also be part of the cross‑office team and therefore be expected to work with their colleagues in other offices.

The successful candidate will already be working in all aspects of insolvency, both personal and corporate, including transactional, advisory and contentious insolvency. The team works for a wide range of insolvency practitioners, banks, lenders, investors, directors, companies and individuals and the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to work closely with all clients. We support hybrid working, typically with 2‑3 days flexible office attendance, according to business need.

You must be able to evidence an excellent working knowledge of the Insolvency Act 1986, Insolvency Rules 2016 and Companies Act 2006. The ideal candidate will have majored on contentious insolvency work and be looking to broaden their skill set to become a fully rounded insolvency lawyer.

You should also have significant experience in dealing with administration appointments, security reviews, sales of businesses, winding up petitions, bankruptcy petitions, bankruptcy estates, matrimonial home proceedings, transactions at undervalue, preferences, misfeasance and directors' loan accounts. Experience of appointing and working with LPA Receivers would be advantageous. Good contacts in the Insolvency Profession and a following would also be welcomed.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and have experience delegating to and managing junior colleagues – as well as an enthusiasm for business development and networking.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a lively, ambitious solicitor who is flexible, able to think on their feet and enjoys networking and contributing to the growth of a successful and busy insolvency practice.
