Qualifications

Infrastructure Support Engineer

10 Month contract initially

Based: 50/50 Hybrid - Wokingham

Rate: £225 - £270 p/d (via Umbrella company)

We have a great opportunity with a world-leading organisation where you will be supported and developed to succeed. This is a progressive organisation where you can make a real difference. We are looking for an Infrastructure Support Engineer to join the team.

Main Responsibilities

To oversee access of supplier teams into the control centre for manual tasks (e.g., relaying or patching cables). Remote work is possible, but candidates must be ready to travel to the client site when required, including after hours.

Key Responsibilities
Access Coordination & Site Support
  • Manage physical access of supplier teams into control centres
  • Ensure activities are conducted according to site protocols
  • Maintain logs of access, work, and incidents
  • Coordinate schedules and resolve access issues between client and suppliers
  • Respond to urgent access requests, including after-hours visits
  • Uphold safety, security, and compliance standards during on-site activities
Infrastructure Support & Maintenance
  • Monitor and maintain infrastructure systems (servers, networks, storage)
  • Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and service requests
  • Support hardware/software installation, configuration, and upgrades
  • Document infrastructure assets and procedures
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure system performance and scalability
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies and security protocols
  • Participate in infrastructure projects and migrations
Key Skills & Experience
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Familiarity with physical infrastructure (cabling, server rooms)
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux servers
  • Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) is a plus
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities
  • Willing to travel to client sites, including outside standard hours
  • Experience in infrastructure support, systems administration, or IT operations
