As an Infrastructure Manager you will oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of IT and OT (Operational Technology) infrastructure across the organisation.

This includes responsibility for data centres, networks, servers, storage, and cloud platforms that support the safe and secure operation of nuclear facilities in compliance with UK regulatory and cybersecurity standards.

This is an intelligent customer role.

You will report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and be located at Springfields Fuel Site. We ask that you have to be on-site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the infrastructure team to deliver systems that support nuclear operations.
  • Technical Design Authority over the SFL Infrastructure.
  • Oversee daily operations of on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure (including Azure/AWS).
  • Manage Change Control Approval on Infrastructure elements over SFL IT/OT Environments through SFL Change Approval Board
  • Ensure all infrastructure components meet the standards of the Nuclear Industry Cyber Security Programme (NICSP), ONR regulations, NIST, and ISO 27001/IEC 62443 requirements.
  • Develop lifecycle management plans for infrastructure assets including patching, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Help implement secure-by-design principles in Infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security controls, vulnerability management, and incident response protocols.
  • Manage third-party suppliers and service contracts, ensuring performance against SLAs and regulatory compliance.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Act as the infrastructure lead during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews. Prepare documentation and evidence as needed.
  • Ensure infrastructure aligns with business goals and IT strategy, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Lead a high-performing team through mentoring, training, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Industry certifications preferred (e.g. TOGAF, ITIL, CISSP, CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft/Azure certifications).
  • Extensive background in managing complex IT infrastructure environments within regulated or critical national infrastructure sectors.
  • In‑depth knowledge of data centre operations, networking, virtualisation (e.g. VMware), storage solutions, and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with UK nuclear industry standards, including ONR regulations, NICSP, NCSC guidance, and relevant cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Expertise in managing infrastructure projects, with responsibility for budget control and risk management.
  • Ability to produce and review technical documentation and governance artefacts.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management tools.
  • Familiarity with safety‑critical systems and the role of infrastructure in maintaining site safety and resilience.
