Job summary

A leading mining company based in the UK is seeking a skilled electrician to join their underground electrical team. The role involves ensuring the efficient performance of mining machinery through inspections, repairs, and maintenance while complying with safety regulations. Qualifications

  • Time-served electrician in a heavy industrial, mining or processing environment.
  • Experience with HV/LV systems (up to 11kV), conveyor and pumping systems.
  • Understanding of computer/PLC control systems desirable.

  • Complete statutory inspections and reports in line with legislation and site requirements.
  • Inspect, fault-find, maintain and repair machinery and electrical systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to minimise downtime.

Job description
The Role

Work as part of the underground electrical team to ensure all mining machinery andrierenіequipment performs safely and efficiently through planned inspections, effective fault‑finding, timely repairs, and proactive maintenance.

Location: Boulby Mine, Saltburn‑by‑the‑Sea akut.

The Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
  • Complete statutory inspections and reports in line with legislation and site requirements.
  • Comply with current Health & Safety regulations, risk assessments, method statements, and site‑specific rules.
  • Conduct and document electrical isolations per company procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving health and safety standards.
Maintenance & Operations
  • Inspect, fault‑find, maintain and repair face‑line machinery, conveyor systems, and switchgear.
  • Install, advance and maintain underground communications and lighting systems.
  • Plan and execute work based on shift reports and inspections.
  • Utilise the Permit to Work system; issue permits as golfingauthorized.
Teamwork & Communication
  • Collaborate effectively with electrical and production colleagues to minimise downtime.
  • Provide feedback on equipment condition and job progress to supervisors and team members.
  • Interpret and act upon technical manuals, verbal instructions, and previous reports.
Problem Solving & Decision Making
  • Respond promptly and independently to equipment 安徽issues, using sound judgment under pressure.
  • Suggest improvements in equipment performance, safety, tooling, or working practices.
Resource Use
  • Use parts and consumables responsibly to reduce waste and cost.
  • Ensure tooling and materials are used efficiently and safely.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Time‑served electrician in a heavī industrial, mining or processing environment.
  • Experience with HV/LV systems (up to 11kV), conveyor and pumping systems.
  • Understanding of computer/PLC control systems desirable.
  • Level 2 Skills for Life (Numeracy, Literacy, ITQ) or GCSE equivalent/higher.
  • Electrical engineering qualification.
  • Certification in Risk Assessment and IOSH Working Safely (or willingness to achieve).
  • Strong communication skills—verbal and written.
