Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for any talented Information Governance colleagues to fulfil a temporary post and gain valuable experience in the NHS health research space. As the IG Manager for Research, the post holder will provide highly specialist advice within the information governance team contributing towards meeting information governance, data protection and privacy standards including the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and reducing information risks. The post holder will be required to deputise for the Head of Information Governance as required. The post-holder will be expected to work with various members of staff across the organisation, external agencies, and patients and the general public. Knowledge of research processes is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities
  • Leading in the delivery of objectives within the Information Governance agenda
  • Deputising for the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer as required
  • Be a subject matter specialist in information governance topics to provide effective and timely advice to Trust staff on all aspects of Information Governance through the management of formal communication channels
  • Act as primary contact for all research queries from our Joint Research Office
  • Providing support to the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer in the development of the Trusts Information Governance strategic framework and regulatory requirements, e.g., data protection and security toolkit and ensuring the compliance of the research department
  • Delivery of the Information Governance Trust-wide programme of training and communications
  • Overseeing the Records and Information Governance Group is administered appropriately
  • Supporting the Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer in providing assurance to the Trust Board on Data Protection issues, including the Annual Governance Statement, the DSP Toolkit submission, and any Well‑led review
