Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by our well-known Cheshire based client to recruit for an Indirect Senior Buyer.

Purpose of job: My client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Indirect Senior Buyer to join their procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing goods and services for the company and manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of quality products and services. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify purchasing needs and optimise purchasing activities.

Day to Day responsibilities:
  • Manage New Supplier Requests and conduct due diligence.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify purchasing needs.
  • Research and identify potential suppliers, evaluate their products or services, and compare prices and quality.
  • Place purchase orders and manage delivery of goods and services to ensure timely delivery and accurate quantities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities including contracts, purchase order and delivery schedules.
  • Manage Contract Database
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement cost savings opportunities and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to purchasing activities.
Key Skills and Experience required:
  • 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing with experience of purchasing a wide range of indirect goods and services.
  • Someone with a real desire to progress and grow their purchasing career- the sky really is the limit with my client.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Ability to analyse data to support with purchasing decisions.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Previous experience in managing/mentoring a team.
