Independent Reviewing Officer - Salford City Council (SQAU)

Location : Unity House, Salford

Pay : £39-£40 per hour (Umbrella)

Contract : Agency / Temporary - 36 hours per week

Team : Safeguarding & Quality Assurance Unit (SQAU)

Eden Brown Synergy is recruiting an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join Salford Council's Safeguarding & Quality Assurance Unit (SQAU). In this key role, you will ensure Looked After Children (LAC) have high-quality, child-centred care plans, monitor statutory reviews, and support service improvement across the council.

Responsibilities

You will chair LAC reviews, oversee care plan progression, and advocate for children and young people. This includes ensuring permanence planning, care planning, risk management, and effective participation of children, parents, carers, and professionals. You will also support training, audits, and practice observation, contributing to service development and embedding a strengths-based and restorative approach to practice.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years post-qualifying experience
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in children's social care
  • HCPC registration and recognised social work qualification
  • Expertise in Looked After Children, safeguarding, case management, and statutory reviews
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative skills
