Summary

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced in vivo Scientist to join the Insmed Innovation in vivo team and work closely with cross-functional teams situated in Babraham Cambridge. You will develop a vision on how the in vivo team can support all aspects of early target identification, target validation, and drug discovery programs. You will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, multidisciplinary team with the mission of validating proprietary targets and contributing to drug discovery programs.

Responsibilities
  • Work with program leads and senior leadership on overall in vivo project plans.
  • Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of in vivo studies (in-house and with CROs) to enable target identification, target validation, and drug discovery across projects.
  • Plan and execute lab-based work and analyze endpoint data including mouse-model characterization (image and behavior methods), efficacy studies, and small-scale PK/PD studies.
  • Prepare study reports, summaries, and regulatory documents.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities, applying problem-solving to identify workflow efficiencies and implement technology solutions to enhance processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to capture learning and incorporate it into processes and practices.
  • Contribute to a vibrant and innovative working environment where improvements and new ideas are adopted and shared among teams.
  • Work with Bioinformatics and Human Genetics teams to gain an integrated biological understanding of target biology and disease role.
  • Provide scientific coaching and mentorship within the matrix-based team.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years in a relevant scientific discipline with in vivo models, experience with both in-house and external partners. Neurodegenerative disease experience is advantageous. Scientist I level consideration may be made.
  • UK Home Office Licence holder with proven in vivo experience and skills working with animal models.
  • Experience with mouse model characterization such as behavior phenotyping and/or image-based analysis.
  • Experience planning and executing efficacy studies, including complex dosing routes (IT, ICV, ICM) and cannulation placement for repeat dosing in mice.
  • Experience in tissue collection for CNS studies (e.g., spinal cord, brain regions) and sample processing for histology.
  • Understanding of regulated procedures and Home Office licence requirements, with welfare advice and support for ongoing projects.
  • Experience managing complex external collaborations and partnerships to achieve project goals.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and understanding of statistical methods; experience with reports, summaries, electronic database entries, and regulatory documents.
