Job description
Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Litigation Solicitor to join my client’s team on a remote basis. My client is a fast growing UK-based business lender supporting small and medium-sized enterprises with short-term funding solutions. We are known for our commercially focused approach to credit, recoveries, and enforcement, and operate with a lean, highly effective in-house legal function. The role of the In-House Litigation Lawyer will be to oversee day-to-day legal matters across debt recovery, litigation, and insolvency. This is a dynamic role with real influence, suitable for someone looking to step away from traditional high-volume legal practice and into a commercially strategic position. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for managing the company’s litigation and enforcement caseload, with a particular focus on contractual debt claims, statutory demands, insolvency proceedings, and post-judgment enforcement.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of litigation and enforcement matters
  • Draft and issue statutory demands, County Court claims, and relevant applications (e.g. N244, N379)
  • Oversee insolvency proceedings including bankruptcy and winding-up petitions
  • Prepare and review witness statements, consent orders, settlement proposals, and evidence bundles
  • Liaise with courts, enforcement officers, defendants, solicitors, and agents
  • Delegate and review legal casework carried out by internal paralegals
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of all legal actions and outcomes
  • Provide legal guidance to internal teams on debt recovery strategy and compliance
  • Contribute to the development of internal legal templates, workflows, and procedures
Requirements
  • 1-4 years' post-qualification experience in civil litigation or debt recovery
  • Solid understanding of County Court claims, enforcement, and CPR requirements
  • Familiarity with insolvency procedures, including bankruptcy and corporate winding-up
  • Excellent drafting skills and strong attention to detail
  • Confident in supervising and reviewing the work of paralegals and junior legal staff
  • Strong communication, organisation, and case management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and contribute strategically within a small team
Benefits
  • Competitive base salary
  • Annual performance-based bonus scheme
  • Commission incentives
  • Flexible remote/hybrid working
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership and meaningful influence on business processes
  • Structured career progression into a Legal Counsel or Head of Legal role
