ICT Officer

Grade 5/7 (£28,520 - £37,625)

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, and customer focused team players to join the ICT Infrastructure Team. The team is responsible for managing the ICT infrastructure (server, network, and desktop), the provision of the ICT Servicedesk function to all departments across the Council, as well as enterprise security and compliance. In total, the team supports around 90 remote sites; this includes the Council’s 8 secondary schools and 44 primary schools.

Two of the posts (1 x Permanent and 1 x Temporary), are in the ICT Support Team, with a focus on desktop provision, as well as general ICT support. The other permanent post is in the Server & Network Team, with the main focus on supporting the server infrastructure.

You will ideally hold an HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and will have some experience of working in a multi‑site environment. You will also have good knowledge and experience of supporting a wide range of hardware and software, preferably in a local government environment.

Knowledge and experience of some of the following areas would be a distinct advantage.

ICT Support Team

  • Desktop PC’s, Laptops and Thin Clients

  • Imaging PCs\Laptops\VDI
  • Assisting with upgrades and testing of patches, updates, and new software
  • Troubleshooting and research of technical issues
  • Applications running on PC’s, Laptops, Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop
  • Knowledge of Local Government applications
  • Active Directory user account management
  • Mailbox management and support
  • Administration and support of Telephone Systems
  • Networking Infrastructure and troubleshooting

Requirements
  1. Assist in the development and implementation of ICT systems.
  2. Assist with service delivery in relation to Infrastructure, Operation and User Support.
  3. Assist, where appropriate, in strategy and planning initiatives with regard to the specified function of the service area.
  4. Assist, where appropriate, in management and administration with regard to ICT contracts, projects and resources.
  5. Adopt and promote council policies.
  6. Any other duties.
Responsibilities

To assist the ICT Team Leaders to ensure that the ICT service meets the needs of the Council and is delivered as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Salary: £28,520.05

Hourly Rate: £15.13

Hours per Week: 35.26 hours
