Job summary

A leading engineering and project services company in the North East of England is seeking a Hydraulic Technician to join their dynamic team. The role involves assembling and testing hydraulic components, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications, and guiding junior staff. Candidates should possess skills in interpreting engineering drawings and have relevant trade experience. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment that prioritizes Health and Safety, with occasional offshore travel required.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in a heavy engineering environment preferred.
  • Competence in hydraulic and mechanical components assembly.
  • Proficient in pressure testing and pre-commissioning checks.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test hydraulic and mechanical components.
  • Inspect components and ensure they meet design specifications.
  • Provide guidance to the hydraulic construction team.

Skills

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
IT literate and competent in Microsoft Office

Education

HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject

Job description

Our client is a leading engineering and project services company who provide bespoke solutions across a number of marine related areas. Due to growth, they now require a Hydraulic Technician to work from their busy North East facility.

The Role
  • Assemble and test hydraulic and mechanical components in line with engineering drawings.
  • Define component positions and routing for hose and tube assemblies.
  • Inspect manifolds and ensure machining meets design specifications.
  • Conduct controlled pressure testing and pre-commissioning checks.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to the hydraulic construction team and support apprentice development.
  • Review tooling and equipment requirements for projects.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately, including inspection and test records.
  • Promote and uphold Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and report non-conformances.
  • Occasional travel, including offshore work, may be required.
The Person
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • IT literate and competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Time-served in a relevant trade.
  • Experience in a heavy engineering environment (preferred).
  • HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject (preferred).
  • Certified to operate workshop plant and machinery (advantageous).
  • Flexible approach to working shifts and meeting project deadlines.
