Job description

Job Title: HVAC Multi Skilled Engineer
Location: Durham

About Us
Our client is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are seeking a skilled and versatile HVAC Multi Skilled Engineer to join our team in Durham. This role will see you delivering exceptional Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance across plant, equipment, and building services for our client site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on HVAC plant, equipment, and building services, with a focus on Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) air conditioning systems.
  • Manage site risks through proactive equipment maintenance, identification of critical spares, performance improvement, and environmental control via BMS systems.
  • Perform fault–finding, repairs, and upgrades on mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with F–Gas regulations.
  • Support health and safety initiatives, acting as Energy Champion and assisting in Safety Champion duties.
  • Write and follow risk assessments, method statements, and permits, ensuring all work meets legal and regulatory standards.
  • Use CAFM systems and mobile devices to log, track, and complete maintenance tasks efficiently.
  • Liaise with the onsite Supervisor and Account Manager to resolve building services issues.
  • Supervise subcontractors and, when required, act as the responsible person or deputise for the site supervisor.
  • Participate in an on–call rota and work overtime as business needs require, including occasional nights and weekends.

Experience & Qualifications
Essential:

  • Recognised or Time–Served Apprenticeship in HVAC or relevant discipline.
  • Strong, proven experience in HVAC maintenance.
  • City & Guilds Mechanical qualifications or equivalent.
  • Multi–skilled with both mechanical and electrical competence.
  • Proven fault–finding skills.
  • Contractor supervision experience.
  • Experience writing and working to Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and safe systems of work.
  • F–Gas certification for safe refrigerant handling.

Desirable:

  • Working at Height qualification.
  • IPAF / PASMA certification.
  • Authorised Person (AP) qualifications.
  • Experience with BMS systems and HVAC controls.
