Job summary

A growing HR consultancy in the Bristol area is seeking an HR / People Advisor to provide support across various client projects and develop HR documentation. Ideal candidates will have around 2-3 years of HR experience and excellent communication skills. This role offers home-based working flexibility, mentoring from seasoned consultants, and a clear development pathway to HR Consultancy within 2-3 years.

HR / People Advisor – Home-Based (Bristol Area)

Salary : £28,000 - £32,000 DOE (pro rata if part-time)

Hours : 25-40 hours per week, (At least 4 days per week)

Location : Home-based, with regular travel across the Bristol region

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic development role for someone with existing HR experience who wants the opportunity to learn from some of the best HR professionals in the region, whilst supporting our team with accurate, well‑written HR policies and contracts that set the scene for our customers’ working culture and benefits. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our clients are prepared for new employment law changes, updating their documentation, and responding to day‑to‑day HR queries.

As an HR / People Advisor, you’ll gain practical experience across a wide range of sectors, develop your employee relations expertise, and, through mentoring by our senior consultants, progress towards becoming an HR Consultant within two to three years.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Supporting the Rise HR Consultancy team with client work and ongoing projects
  • Reviewing and updating client handbooks, contracts, and template documents in line with upcoming UK employment law changes
  • Assisting consultants with employee relations casework, preparation of documents, and follow‑up actions
  • Responding to client queries with confidence, clarity and a commercial mindset
  • Providing reliable administrative support to ensure work is delivered efficiently and accurately
  • Building strong relationships with small business owners and helping them manage their people brilliantly
  • Using HRIS to effectively manage HR data
What We’re Looking For in an HR / People Advisor
  • Experience working in an HR / People team in some capacity (probably around 2-3 years, which might include roles like HR Administrator, HR Coordinator or similar)
  • Associate or Member of CIPD
  • A genuine interest in workplace culture, employment law and employee relations
  • Someone commercially minded- able to balance compliance with practical, business‑focused advice
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A self‑starter with strong organisational skills who enjoys driving a project through to completion
  • Sharp attention to detail, curious mind and the boldness to question the status quo
  • Comfortable with administrative tasks but eager to learn, develop and progress
  • Based in the Bristol area, with a full driving licence and access to a car, as travel across the region is an essential part of this role
