Job description
Leadership & Management
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to support the School's strategic goals via effective HR initiatives
  • Act as a champion for the School's culture, ensuring staff wellbeing and engagement are at the heart of all HR activity
  • Line Management of the HR Assistant Employee Relations & Advisory
  • Provide advice and guidance managers on complex employee relations matters
  • Provide professional and supportive HR advice and guidance to staff at all levels
Compliance & Safeguarding
  • Act as the custodian of the Single Central Record (SCR)
  • Act as the lead for all statutory HR returns, including the School Workforce Census
  • Oversee all pre-employment checks
L&D and Talent Management
  • Support the Assistant Head in charge of Staff CPD in the arrangement of whole school INSET days
  • Oversee the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account
  • Deliver and/or facilitate engaging training sessions as required
  • Promote a continuous learning culture and employee engagement
HR Administration
  • Manage the associated administrative delivery related to the employee lifecycle
  • Manage the administration and accurate record keeping of all employee data
  • Manage the annual staff survey and other ad hoc in year surveys, and report on their findings
  • Reporting on the performance and progress of the HR department to senior stakeholders and Governors
  • Manage the DBS renewal process
  • Continue to work on the development and integration of modules within our new HRIS system (EveryHR)
  • Support the Estates & Facilities Manager with the administrative requirements related to Staff Accommodation
  • Manage the periodic review of salaries for both Teaching and Support Staff as required
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures and the Staff Handbook are up to date and compliant with current legislation
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Headmaster
Qualifications (essential)
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of recent employment law training.
Qualifications (desirable)
  • CIPD Level 7 or equivalent experience.
  • Safer Recruitment trained.
Experience (essential)
  • Demonstrable experience in a generalist HR role.
  • Managing complex casework and employee relations issues.
  • Experience of supporting all stages of the employee lifecycle.

  • Experience of HR within the education sector - Secondary and/or FE (highly desirable).
  • Previous experience of leading a small team.
  • Knowledge of Academy Trusts.

  • Robust understanding of UK Employment Law and safeguarding requirements.
  • A strong understanding of GDPR & Data Protection legislation.
  • Knowledge of compensation strategies, performance management, employee relations, talent management.
Knowledge (desirable)
  • Knowledge of KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education).
  • SCR (Single Central Record) compliance.
  • Burgundy Book (Teachers' T&Cs).

Due to our current HR Manager relocating, we are seeking an experienced, people-centered HR professional to join our HR and Payroll team, to play a key role in supporting our staff in their professional journeys and delivering an exceptional education experience to our learners.
