Overview

The Whittan Group is the largest manufacturer of steel storage products in the United Kingdom. Operating through a number of market leading brands, we design, manufacture and install storage solutions for commercial and industrial environments in the UK and Europe.

We are looking for an HR Advisor to join our busy growing organisation. The successful candidate will be based at our Milton Keynes site and will provide proactive and professional HR support to the Sales & Commercial function, working closely with the HR Business Partner (HRBP) to deliver people initiatives that drive business performance. This role will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, supporting day-to-day HR matters, ensuring compliance with policies and employment legislation, and contributing to a positive employee experience. The HR Advisor will also play a key role in enabling the HRBP to focus on strategic priorities by effectively supporting operational HR activities.

Key Working Relationships

The HR Advisor will work closely with the HR Business Partners, HR Shared Services and all internal departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the HRBP to deliver HR services aligned to business needs within the Sales & Commercial teams.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations matters.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and talent development initiatives to ensure the attraction and retention of high-performing talent.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations cases (e.g., disciplinaries, grievances, absence management) in line with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to performance management processes, including coaching managers in conducting reviews, setting objectives, and addressing underperformance.
  • Support HRBP in implementing organisational change initiatives, workforce planning, and engagement strategies.
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and insights to support decision-making.
  • Act as a point of contact for HR queries within Sales & Commercial, ensuring timely resolution or escalation where necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement in HR processes and contribute to the development of best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in an HR Advisor, HR Generalist, or similar role.
  • CIPD level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Experience in supporting employee relations cases through to resolution.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, commercial environment.
  • Confident in using HR systems.
  • Previous experience working in a Manufacturing environment would be preferred.
  • Full UK Driving licence.
