Overview

Location: Outksirts of Exeter

Hourly Rate: £13.70 per hour

Contract Type: Temporary (2–3 months initially, with potential to become permanent)

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM; Friday: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Start Date: ASAP

Job Purpose: To provide efficient and confidential administrative support to the HR function within a busy school environment, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and compliance with school policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the recruitment process including advertising roles, arranging interviews, and processing pre-employment checks (DBS, references, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases
  • Support onboarding and induction processes for new staff
  • Handle general HR queries from staff and escalate when necessary
  • Assist with absence management and monitoring staff attendance
  • Prepare HR-related documentation such as contracts, letters, and reports
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and data protection regulations
  • Liaise with payroll and finance teams regarding HR-related changes
  • Provide general administrative support including filing, photocopying, and managing correspondence
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous experience in HR administration or similar role
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a school or education setting
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and safer recruitment practices
  • Familiarity with HR systems or databases
