Overview
Central Recruitment is currently recruiting for four permanent Housing Support Workers (Nights) to work in the Lambeth area. The service provides support to young people aged 18+ facing homelessness to help them build resilience, develop life skills and take confident steps toward independent living.
Responsibilities
- Hold a small caseload of young people and meet regularly to review progress and goals
- Focus on helping young people navigate the challenges of early adulthood
- Co-create personalised support plans and risk assessments
- Support with housing applications, budgeting, benefits and essential life skills
- Connect young people with specialist services (mental health, substance misuse, safeguarding)
- Build strong, professional relationships based on trust and consistency
- Maintain accurate records using Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Please note, this role involves lone working.
Requirements (What you will need to apply)
- Experience providing support to young people with complex needs (such as trauma, mental health challenges, substance misuse or involvement with the care or criminal justice systems)
- Knowledge and understanding of homelessness and housing legislation
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people and an understanding of safeguarding of young people
- Experience in support planning, risk assessment and signposting to specialist services
- Able to communicate effectively with customers, staff, external agencies and stakeholders
- Knowledge of Health and Safety in a supported housing environment
- Effective at report writing, good IT literacy and confident use of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint and data entry systems
- Ability and confidence to lone work and as part of a team
Further requirements
- In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Current valid right to work in the UK
- Minimum 12 months' of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
- A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
- Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
