Housing Manager - Home Ownership Income

Starting salary £32,000, plus great benefits including Health cash plan

Permanent, Full time (37.5 hpw), typically 9 : 00am

As our Housing Manager, you’ll be the face‑to‑face customer support to our communities. It is an ideal job for someone who has a passion for income collection and sustaining communities. You may already have extensive experience as a generic Housing Manager, Leasehold Manager or experience of income collection within another sector.

What you’ll do

You will work through arrears cases for our general needs, shared ownership and leasehold customers including managing service charge accounts and other payments for homeowners, within East Coast & Yorkshire Region and decide on the necessary course of action.

You will provide advice and support to residents regarding service charges and homeownership queries.

Work with finance teams to ensure service charges are correct and timely reconciliation of accounts.

You will work on specific campaigns to reduce arrears, such as targeted work with customers in a locality.

You will work closely with our Financial Inclusion Telephone Team and Specialist Function Managers and external partners to discuss accounts and to support customers.

You’ll progress legal paperwork such as notices and prepare witness statements for rent arrears cases and homeowners at court.

You have

You will have a background in income protection & arrears management processes including legal action for non‑payment of service charges or rent.

You will have the ability to explain and manage annual service charge budgets, actuals and reconciliations.

Ability to interpret different types of tenures.

Understanding of responsibilities between landlord and leaseholder for repairs and upkeep.

You’ll understand housing management, housing law, universal credit and housing benefit.

Knowledge of best practice in responding to leaseholder disputes and complaints

The practical bits

Hybrid working which involves working from home, in the community or your nearest local office.

You’ll manage your own diary and be accountable for achieving KPIs.

You will need to be able to drive and have access to a vehicle insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay your business mileage to cover this use!

You’ll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
