Are you looking for a new challenge and to be part of a vibrant Environmental Health team that contributes to the Council's corporate purpose of ‘Serving People and Improving lives’? We need an enthusiastic officer to become part of our Selective Licensing Team to ensure that private rented homes are safe and licensed to comply with minimum legal standards and good practice.

This full‑time post would be suitable for experienced officers or graduates seeking Local Authority experience.

Responsibilities
  • Inspecting rented homes and assessing compliance with legal and safety standards.
  • Processing, drafting and issuing selective licences.
  • Providing advice to landlords to assist in compliance with their legal obligations.
  • Taking enforcement action where necessary.
  • Assisting with the private sector housing functions of the service.
  • Covering additional parts of the wider service as required.
Qualifications and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of private sector housing enforcement methods, legislation, regulation and codes of practice is essential.
  • Knowledge of issuing licences in private sector housing is desirable.
  • Further requirements can be found in the Person Specification.

The salary is career graded offering progression for relevant experience and qualifications.

Location

Our offices are based in Arnold on the outskirts of the city of Nottingham in a pleasant ‘green flag’ parkland setting with good public transport links.
