Job description

The North Manchester Early Intervention for Psychosis Team is delighted to be able to offer a full-time permanent post for a housing and welfare rights officer.

The Manchester Early Intervention for Psychosis Service is divided into three teams covering the city: north, central and south. This post will be based in the NORTH team - Central Park, however you will be expected to cover part of the central teamas part of the role.

You will work alongside a team of passionate and experienced colleagues and will be supported by the Clinical Team Manager and Senior Practitioner.

This post is a full time position (37.5 hours per week). The Team is currently operational Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm but flexible working can be discussed.

Main duties of the job

The role will include supporting and promoting service users to:

  • Access income and benefits
  • Secure housing and support in the transition into new tenancies and housing
  • To live more independently and maximise success of independent living

Attendance at groups run by the service to support service users and carers with information and advice.

Person Specification
Education
  • Educated to degree level or demonstratable experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Educational qualifications relating to social welfare legislation - including debt, benefits, housing and homelessness
Experience
  • Experience of delivering advice interventions relating to welfare benefits, housing and debt
  • Experience of working with people with mental health issues
  • Experience of working within mental health services as part of an MDT
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of key area of social welfare law, e.g welfare benefits, debt, housing
