JOB TITLE: Housing Allocations Officer / Housing Customer Services Assistant
REF: W Berkshire 5277256
Pay rate: £14.58 per hour PAYE
Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 3 months
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working 40% in office - however during TRAINING YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND THE OFFICE EVERYDAY UNTIL FULLY TRAINED (potentially a month but longer if required)
No site visits required so access to vehicle not necessary.

In order to apply for this role you should have an understanding of Allocations and lettings processes along with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, verbally and in writing. You will also have experience of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc) and be able and willing to learn new software systems.

The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking an Housing Allocations Officer to provide a telephone and face to face service for housing clients contacting the Council in person, in writing and by telephone about their housing register application and how the Choice Based Lettings system operates. You will also assist with the operation of the Common Housing Register by checking and inputting new applications and updating changes to existing applications.

  • Manage housing register applications, referrals, and maintain accurate confidential records.
  • Handle enquiries (phone, reception, written), provide advice, explain legislation clearly, and support vulnerable applicants.
  • Liaise with lettings teams, Registered Providers, and provide cover for the Housing Allocations Team Leader.
  • Perform administrative and financial tasks: filing, scanning, ordering supplies, petty cash, invoicing, budgeting, organising meetings.
  • Contribute to team/service development, undertake flexible duties, support housing operations, and use own vehicle when required.
