Housing Advice & Homeless Prevention Officer

We are working closely with a Local Authority in Hillingdon to assist with the appointment of a Housing Advice & Homeless Prevention Officer on a 6-month contract, likely to be extended at client's discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £20.00 - £26.38 per hour

Summary:

The Housing Advice & Homeless Prevention Officer will deliver proactive, customer-focused housing options advice, support clients in preventing homelessness, and manage a caseload involving statutory assessments under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996. The role involves working collaboratively across departments and external partners to deliver sustainable housing solutions and prevent crisis homelessness.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic housing advice and support, promoting independence and self-service.
  • Assist clients with welfare and benefit claims to support housing stability.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to legal frameworks and Council policies.
  • Detect and refer fraudulent applications appropriately.
  • Represent the service in meetings, case conferences, and relevant committees.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with private landlords and letting agents.
  • Address safeguarding concerns and undertake appropriate risk assessments.

Qualifications:

  • Hold an appropriate qualification in a relevant field: NVQ, Diploma, relevant degree or relevant experience.
  • A good standard of education with English & Maths GCSE grade A-C or equivalent

  • This role requires an enhanced DBS.
