Job Title

Sous Chef

Location & Contract

Location: Welwyn, Hertfordshire

Contract: Permanent – 45 hrs p/w

Accommodation: Provided (Charge negotiable based on availability)

About the Hotel

This hotel is the ideal country retreat for both business and pleasure. Set in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, it consists of a 490‑acre farm, a 29‑bedroom country house hotel, a 2‑Rosette restaurant, and 9 function/conference rooms, offering a unique and attractive year‑round location for events such as weddings.

Responsibilities
  • Direct the food preparation process and delegate tasks
  • Cook and prepare high‑quality dishes
  • Assist the Head Chef in creating menu items, recipes, and developing new dishes
  • Supervise all kitchen stations
  • Supervise, motivate, and collaborate closely with chefs at all levels
  • Ensure health and safety compliance
  • Maintain food hygiene practices
  • Ensure food quality and excellent standards for all dishes created
  • Assist in determining food inventory needs, stocking, and ordering
  • Guarantee the kitchen meets all regulations, including sanitary and food safety guidelines

  • Experience working in a hotel to a high standard using fresh ingredients
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts on a rota
