Due to the expansion of our Hospice at Home team, we are currently seeking two Hospice at Home Care Assistants to support our nurses on home visits. As a Hospice at Home Care Assistant, you will be an integral part of Rainbows' Hospice at Home Team, delivering high-quality clinical care to babies, children, and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in the comfort of their own homes.Your role will include supporting families by providing respite care and emotional support, as well as assisting in the delivery of palliative and end-of-life care. This is a truly meaningful position where you will make a real difference to the lives of families at the most difficult times, working closely with our nursing team to ensure compassionate, person-centred care. Within this role you will receive on the job training, working alongside an experienced Nurse, learning clinical skills as well as non-clinical skills of memory making, providing families with keep sakes of their baby, child or young person.
Here at Rainbows Childrens Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-limiting conditions, and terminal illnesses as well as approximately 3,000 people, including families, siblings, and carers, across the East Midlands. Simply put, were here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.
Location: Based at Rainbows Hospice with the requirement to travel across the East Midlands, covering Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. Therefore, a driving license is required for this role.Hours of work: Monday to Sunday 8.00am to 6.00pm. Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to):To provide support alongside a Nurse in delivering excellent short break, palliative and end of life care within the home,To report to the Lead Nurse any concerns surrounding the care, condition or behaviour of the baby, child, young person and/or family.To ensure all procedures are carried out in accordance with local and national policies in force within the Hospice.To contribute positively to the establishment of good communication and relations between staff and take personal responsibility for adherence to the same.To ensure accurate and contemporaneous record keeping and observe confidentiality of such records at all timesFurther requirements can be found by downloading the Job Description.
RequirementsHold a UK driving licence NVQ Level 2/3 in care or equivalent experience Experience with children and/or young people (0-25 years) with complex needs Experience of liaising with families and/or health care providers regarding child/young person care Further requirements can be found by downloading the Person Specification.
