Overview

Ainscough are looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment, stays calm under pressure, and takes pride in getting things done. You\'ll be a planner who enjoys seeing tasks through to completion and keeping operations running smoothly. Full training will be provided, both in our industry and in the specifics of the role, so you don\'t need crane hire experience to join us. What matters most is the right mindset: organised, focused, and ready to make things happen. As a Hire Controller, you\'ll support the Depot Manager in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the depot, maximising both revenue and efficiency while delivering exceptional service to our customers.

Responsibilities
  • Converting hire enquiries into confirmed orders and achieving revenue targets.
  • Providing tailored solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Managing depot resources and fleet allocation to ensure maximum utilisation.
  • Building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.
  • Handling enquiries promptly and professionally, ensuring excellent service at every stage.
  • Keeping administration accurate and up to date, while maintaining cost control.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Working flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours cover.
Qualifications
  • Good standard of education, ideally with GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Confident communicator with excellent telephone and customer service skills.
  • Strong organisational ability, with a focus on time management and attention to detail.
  • Commercially minded, with proven negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • IT proficient, ideally with knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM tools such as Salesforce.
  • Previous rental or hire industry experience (desirable but not essential).
