Job Title: Site Engineer - Highways

Location: Midlands

Salary: Up to £50,000 + benefits

Overview

My client is seeking an experienced Highways Site Engineer to support the delivery of works on a highways framework across the Midlands region. This is a permanent opportunity offering long-term career development within a well-established contractor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting out for highways works in line with design and project specifications.
  • Supporting the Site Manager and Project Manager in the day‑to‑day running of sites.
  • Ensuring works are carried out safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
  • Managing site documentation, including ITPs, check sheets, and as‑built records.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and the client to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Supporting the preparation of progress reports and maintaining accurate records.
Key Requirements
  • Previous experience working on National Highways schemes is highly desirable.
  • Proven setting out experience on civil engineering or highways projects.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification) is preferred.
  • CSCS Black or Gold card is essential.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and quality standards in highways construction.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Package
  • Salary up to £50,000 depending on experience.
