Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Specialist School

Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Full Time Hours

Location: M23

Contract: Full Time, Long Term

Overview

Are you passionate about making a difference in children’s lives and helping them reach their full potential?

A vibrant and welcoming specialist school is looking for a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team for a full‑time position. ECTs are encouraged to apply as the school offers a great training programme where you will be enrolled into a Teacher position if successful.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will support classroom learning, assist with lesson delivery, and provide tailored support for students. You will work closely with teaching staff to implement plans for students with additional needs, lead small group activities, and offer one‑to‑one support as required. Additionally, you will contribute to the monitoring and assessment of students’ progress and assist in maintaining a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. You will also be responsible for 20‑40% of classroom teaching where required.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must hold an HLTA qualification or equivalent and have experience working with children in a school environment. ECTs are also encouraged to apply. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and use your initiative. A passion for helping children succeed academically and socially is key.
