Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role in a vibrant secondary school setting? We are seeking a passionate and skilled HLTA to join our supportive team from September 2025.

The Role

As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experiences of our pupils. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Covering whole classes for short-term absences of teachers, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Delivering planned lessons and activities to individuals, small groups, and whole classes.
  • Supporting pupils with their learning, both academically and socially, adapting approaches to meet diverse needs.
  • Assisting with the assessment and tracking of pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
  • Preparing and resourcing learning materials and maintaining a stimulating classroom environment.
  • Collaborating effectively with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and fostering a nurturing atmosphere.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school, including extra-curricular activities.
We are looking for someone who
  • Holds the HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Has proven experience of working in a primary school setting.
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate pupils.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
