Job summary

A leading teaching agency is seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a vibrant primary school in Lewisham starting January/February 2026. You will deliver whole class teaching in the absence of the class teacher and provide 1:1 support when needed. The ideal candidate will have HLTA status or equivalent, prior experience in a mainstream primary school, and the ability to adapt to various age groups. Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Primary School
Location: Lewisham, South East London
Start Date: January/February 2026
Daily Rate: 100-120 per day (PAYE)
(Equivalent to 115-135 per day via Umbrella company)

A well-regarded mainstream primary school in the South East London borough of Lewisham is seeking a confident and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from January/February 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive school environment with excellent transport links, conveniently located within a 5-minute walk of a local train station.

The Role

• Deliver whole class teaching in the absence of the class teacher
• Be flexible across all year groups within the primary setting
• Support intervention groups to raise attainment
• Provide 1:1 support where required
• Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds HLTA status (or equivalent experience)
• Has prior experience in a mainstream primary school
• Is confident leading a class and adapting to different age groups
• Is proactive, flexible, and passionate about supporting pupil progress
