Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Bath (BA2)

Are you a EFL teacher looking to transition to a meaningful role in the education sector in the UK? Or, perhaps an experienced SEN teaching assistant looking to take your career to the next step?

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive, collaborative Learning Support team at a secondary school in Bath, where you will contribute to the success and progress of pupils with English as an additional language (EAL).

Location: Bath (BA2)  
Salary: 100 - 125 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract type: Term time only
Start date: September 2025
Pupil age range: 11 - 18 years

This role is an exciting opportunity to complement the professional work of teachers by delivering agreed learning activities, and supporting pupils\' academic progress. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, preparing and delivering targeted support, as well as monitoring and assessing pupil achievement.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver learning activities for pupils with additional literacy and EAL needs, individually and in groups.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil achievement, providing accurate feedback and reports.
  • Select and prepare resources, considering pupils\' interests, language, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Assist with the induction and pastoral care of newly arrived EAL pupils.
Qualifications
  • Hold Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status or have extensive previous teaching assistance experience
  • Good ICT skills
  • Experience of strong behaviour management within the classroom
  • A passion for working with children, particularly those with special educational needs
